The clients came to us with two purchased lots and permits for the construction of a new Mediterranean style home in Tiburon. Desiring a more contemporary home, the clients sought out ODS to work with existing plans and permits from a previous architect. Working off of antiquated hand-drawn plans, we modelled and transformed the design to align with ODS’ aesthetic and the client’s hopes for a modern home.

Currently under construction, this new residence is a 5,000 square foot five-bedroom four-and-a-half bath home on a hillside lot overlooking the Bay in Tiburon. Functioning as a transitional design with a contemporary-modern update to a more traditional house form, a fresh palette of concrete, natural wood siding, stucco and metal create a rich and varied façade. We worked to simplify some of the ornate elements of the previous design and enhance natural lighting throughout, skylights and solar panels improve indoor quality and renewable energy for the house. This all done within a conservative approach to reduce construction costs without sacrificing design.

Inside the home, a formal billiard room anchors the main floor with gorgeous views of the water; a large swimming pool off a terrace with open and covered areas provides a variety of ways to enjoy the sun and sky. The exterior is characterized by a standing seam metal roof, dark bronze aluminum doors and windows, and wood and stone accents. Work is progressing rapidly and completion is projected for Fall/Winter of 2019.
